It appears that Spotify is still coming to the US… just not as fast as they originally thought. According to this article, Spotify’s CEO, Daniel Ek announced that the music streaming service’s launch in America will now be in 2010, not Q3 or Q4 as the company originally announced. Supposedly the delay has to do with securing licenses from music publishers.
The article goes on to discuss the potentially faster launch in China with a quickly growing population obtaining broadband access.
Also this week, a new study found evidence that students prefer downloading music content over streaming. It’s clear that there is still not too much resolution on understanding consumer’s preferences in engaging music content in the age of the Internet. Watch this space!
