Sonotheque Closing November 15th.

November 12, 2009 | ladams

Almost everyone has been to or heard of some “hot” party going on at Sonotheque.  The Wicker Park night spot has been a popular place to host parties or events and even more recently bands for young people in Chicago for the past few years.  The most popular Dj’s have spun and the most obnoxious hipsters have crawled from all corners of the city to come dance, drink, and mingle with fellow plaid shirt wearing music lovers.

Despite it’s popularity, it has been confirmed by TimeOutChicago.com that Sonotheque has been sold and will be closing November 15th for remodeling under new ownership.  While two of the current owners will remain the same, added to the mix will be Beauty Bar franchise night club owner, Paul Devitt.  He owns a string of vintage beauty parlor themed clubs across the country.  Needless to say, when the former Sonotheque re-opens it will have a drastically different feel.  The question is, what kind of music will they play?

Perhaps a drastically different feel wouldn’t be so horrible. The ultra-modern thing just never made sense to me for a hipster bar.
