Tweet some Tracks: Swift & Blip

I’m not really sure who’s hip to these services, but I’m surprised I haven’t seen folks in my Twitter timeline using them more. Instead of just tagging #MusicMonday or #nowplaying, try enriching your tweets with a link to share the song to your followers and they can listen in as well. After the jump are the the two tools I use most frequently to spread music through Twitter.

Blip.fm is a website that basically puts you in charge of your own Internet radio station. You create an account (check mine) and search within the site. It checks a bunch of sites like Lala, iMeem, and Youtube for that track and brings up options for you to play the song. You can sync this to your Twitter account so that it automatically tweets a link to your song of choice. You can also gain badges and give people props for certain songs they blip, as well as other unique features.

Another, newer service is Swift.fm. This is a similar idea to Blip but with less frills. It syncs right from your Twitter, no need to create a new account or anything. It easier to use and the huge bonus of Swift.fm is that you can upload any mp3 into Swift.fm and then tweet the link to it (very useful for upcoming artists). I really encourage swift.fm and its recently been adopted by Questlove and others to tweet music. This is what your tweet will look like.
If you already have an account, kudos. If not, you might want to give this a try.
