SXSW: One man’s story

26728_772414148930_23929382_42663121_28933_nPresently, I’m recovering from the 5 day binge of music, food, people, and music. My suede recliner has been more forgiving to me in the last 20 minutes than I have been to my body in the last 5 days. Given that my position on this couch is of the reclinatory mount, I would aptly suspend my role on this sofa for another day of SXSW.

As will be mentioned in other blogs, namely those of James and Nay, a 20 hour drive from good ol’ Chicago followed up by 5 days of mayhem and excitement surely do test the minerals of a man. After a quick investigation, it would seem I do infact have my minerals, and that I may have even gained one. A gem, that is. SXSW experience incapsulated in a prodigenous granite, marveling atop the city of Austin, TX where the breakfast tacos can make Solomon blush.

I’ll refrain from any more references to both the Bible and my genetalia, and indulge more thoroughly into my SXSW experiences.

First and foremost, I met Gwar. Secondly, he agreed that Evil Dead 2 is the best of the Ash franchise. Thirdly, I felt a bond to fellow Chicago companies that headed down to the Lone Star state. Visting Shuba’s Day party and catching Japandroids, to the Pitchfork Party and catching Japandroids ( bc they’re that f*n awesome), to our own AEMMP Day Party with obviously our own Big Science and Pet Lions but also with Chi-city’s BBU and Rockie Fresh.

Teaming up with Canvas Waiting couldn’t have made a better experience, the guys were tremendously nice and gracious and that’s all we could’ve asked for.

Frankly, it seems the week has whizzed by me. I feel a need to secure a more extended trip to SXSW, yet I know I will only walk away as pleased and teased to return as I am today. A short 3 hour drive home to Houston keeps the idea of an Austin trip flirting with the back of my mind, like the brunette from UT who’s pre-Dental, that’s so hot.

But will she judge me by my cavities, maybe. Will SXSW, no. Because that’s rock and roll and Gwar said so.
